Even our canine friends can help find a cure!
Dogs of all types are invited to join the American Cancer Society at the "Furrst" Annual Bark For Life of Durham County. The event celebrates cancer survivorship, honors those people lost to cancer, and provides an opportunity for dog lovers and our canine friends to support the Society's efforts to save lives and create more birthdays.
The Bark For Life is set for Saturday, May 15, at West Point on the Eno Amphitheatre. Pre-registration by April 13 is $20 and includes a t-shirt for the owner, a bandana for the dog, and one doggie bag of goodies. Each additional dog is $5. On-site registration is $25 with t-shirts & bandanas while supplies last. Visit www.durhamrelay.com or call 919-334-5218 and register today!
This fun-filled half-day event will include activities for the entire family, including the family dog! Activities will begin at 9 a.m. and will include vendor booths, photos, and entertainment. At
10 a.m., there will be an approximate 1.5 long walk. Water will be provided along the way. Snacks, beverages and more activities will be available following the walk as well as contests such as a pet/owner look-a-like, musical doggie sit, and best trick (There will be a $1 fee for dogs to enter each contest.).
Sponsors of Bark For Life can set up a booth on site the day of the event and may distribute information, flyers, and products to the crowd. Those interested in being a sponsor can visit www.durhamrelay.com or contact the American Cancer Society directly at 919-334-5218.
The American Cancer Society combines an unyielding passion with nearly a century of experience to save lives and end suffering from cancer. As a global grassroots force of more than
three million volunteers, we fight for every birthday threatened by every cancer in every community. We save lives by helping people stay well by preventing cancer or detecting it early; helping people get well by being there for them during and after a cancer diagnosis; by finding cures through investment in groundbreaking discovery, fighting back by rallying lawmakers to pass laws to defeat cancer and by rallying communities worldwide to join the fight. As the nation’s largest non-governmental investor in cancer research, contributing more than $3.4 billion, we turn what we know about cancer into what we do. As a result, more than 11 million people in America who have had cancer and countless more who have avoided it will be celebrating birthdays this year. To learn more about us or to get help, call us any time, day or night, at 1-800-227-2345 or visit cancer.org.
