Raleigh, N.C. – James R. Carroll V, a financial advisor with Wells Fargo Advisors and member of the Capital City Club’s Young Executives, advises individuals who are interested in philanthropy to pick a charity they are passionate about and dive in with both feet. He has done just that with Hospice of Wake County and their signature black tie gala, the Big Bad Ball.
Carroll’s association with Hospice of Wake County began back in 2001when the Young Executives decided to choose a charity affiliation and Raleigh’s premier fundraiser, the Big Bad Ball was born.
“There is no substitute for what Hospice provides and the Young Executives recognized the need for the support and growth of such a dynamic healthcare organization,” said Carroll. “I am extremely proud of what we have accomplished with the Big Bad Ball over the past nine years. Along with the money raised, I am thrilled about the level of awareness we have raised with an entirely new group of people to the mission of Hospice. Many young people rarely think about the end of life, yet we are all touched by it.”
While planning the inaugural Big Bad Ball with the other Young Executive Board members, Carroll was approached by Hospice to serve on their board. He has now served on the Hospice of Wake County Board for eight years including a stint as the Board president from 2004-07. During his time as president, Carroll led the organization in its goal of building an inpatient and administrative facility to serve Wake and surrounding counties.
In 2007, Hospice presented Carroll with the Dr. William M. Dunlap Award. The award has been presented 10 times in the organization’s 30-year history to those who have achieved the highest level of leadership in a volunteer role.
“Carroll’s dedication to the Hospice mission over the past eight years has been nothing short of outstanding,” said Michael Blanchard, Hospice of Wake County Vice President of Development. “We are very thankful that the Young Executives chose Hospice as their charity of choice, thus creating an extremely successful fundraiser in the Big Bad Ball and allowing us to work with such a wonderful individual as James Carroll.”
The ninth annual Big Bad Ball will be held October 2nd from 7p.m. – 1a.m. at the Capital City Club.
Tickets are $125 each with proceeds benefiting Hospice of Wake County. The price includes an open bar; scrumptious food selections including hors d’oeuvres, pasta and carving stations, desserts, a late night breakfast; and entertainment by two of the hottest local bands. Attendees also get a chance to participate in a silent auction and a raffle for a $10,000 cash prize.
