Members of the Chinese golf media came to NC play at four prestigious golf club on March 17th. They left with many superlatives about the beautiful courses and amazing design. Ray McDonald, VP of Marketing for McConnell Golf, hosted the group at Raleigh Country Club. The group also played the Old North State Club, comparing the Fazio design with the Don Ross course. "It seems Fazio is the new Don Ross, it is a great progression to play both of these courses," said Mr. Wang, CEO of GOLF Magazine.
In Pinehurst, the group was treated to Pinehurst #2 and #4 on their first full day in NC. Tom Pashley, Executive Vice President Marketing at Pinehurst Resort, was so impressed with the stature of the group that he invited them to return on Sunday to play #8. Bill Gilmore, VP at Pine Needles hosted the group at Pine Needles, which was also a highlight of the trip.
The Courtyard by Marriott Crabtree housed the contingent for their time in Raleigh. They felt the close proximity to Crabtree Valley Mall would be great for the golfers to come, as they would love shopping for hard to find items in China.
The group is back in Beijing working on articles, editing photos and videos of this trip. The articles and photos will be published on TV, magazine and website for thousands of Chinese golfers in the following month. “We are impressed by the beautiful golf courses here and we will make a route to introduce these prestigious golf clubs to our clients”, Richard Song said, owner of Grand Tour, the biggest golf travel agency in China. “The first golf tour will be organized in this summer, this is our target” Mr. Wang from GOLF Magazine said.
These four Chinese Golf Media Group represent GOLF Magazine China, GOLFWEEK China, SINA Website and GOLF Channel.
