Raleigh, North Carolina - For the past five years Raleigh area caterer, Catering by Design has been one of a number of local businesses, groups and churches helping Church in the Woods feed and serve the homeless. 

Church in the Woods is a Raleigh-based church without walls that takes their ministry out into the cities throughout Wake County, including Wake Forest, Raleigh, Apex and other towns. 

Church founder and director, Alice McGee, works out of her home with her husband and volunteers to deliver over one million dollars worth of goods and services a year. They hold over 20 services a week, every one of them with a meal, and depend on local churches, businesses and volunteers to support each service with food and help. 

Many groups have participated for varied lengths of time. Catering by Design participated in Hope Chapel's monthly sponsorship. On the 4th Saturday of every month Catering by Design bought, prepared and cooked a meal for up to several hundred people which members of Hope Chapel served in Moore Square. After five years of service, Hope Chapel's participation drew to a close as they needed to shift  attention to other areas of need. So in September Catering by Design prepared their last meal for the 4th Saturday Moore Square service, and Hope Chapel members served their last meal as a monthly sponsor. 

"We're grateful for the monthly sponsors who have helped us through the years," said Alice McGee, church director. "We're excited that so many churches have come out of their walls to minister to their cities; over 60 churches are supporting us in various ways." 

"There's still a lot of need, and plenty of opportunities to serve," McGee continued. "We welcome inquiries about sponsorships and other forms of assistance. All of the money and support goes directly to our mission; we have no salaries or expenses, except a mobile unit and two vans." 

Catering by Design's service continues with food donations directly to Church in the Woods weekly, and at times bi-weekly, throughout the year. "We really appreciate our relationship with Catering by Design," McGee said. "We continue to pick up food at least once a week from their kitchen."
