National Students of AMF is pleased to announce that Phillip Frye, a founding board member, has been recognized as one of Triangle Business Journal’s annual 40 Under 40 Award winners.  The awards are designed to recognize the most influential and accomplished young professionals in the Raleigh/Durham/Chapel Hill metropolitan area of North Carolina.  Frye earned this acknowledgement by achieving success in his banking career and actively participating in several professional and philanthropic organizations.

He began his impressive banking career with North State bank in 2002 and has since received several promotions to rise from teller supervisor to assistant vice president/business development officer.  Over the past five years, Frye’s efforts have resulted in $92.1 million dollars of new deposits for North State Bank, including $29.1 million in new deposits in 2009.

In addition to his involvement in other charity organizations, Frye serves on the Board of Directors and the finance committee of National Students of AMF, which supports grieving college students.  Frye became involved in the organization in 2006 through his close connection with founder David Fajgenbaum, who started the nonprofit in his mother’s honor.  Frye also connected with the mission of the organization because a classmate at UNC-CH lost her father while they were in college together.  He feels that the organization plays a vital role in helping grieving students stay in school, while also giving them a place to express their feelings.

“40 Under 40 winners are truly the leaders of tomorrow,” says Charlene Grunwaldt, publisher, Triangle Business Journal. “Not only do these individuals have impressive bodies of work, they display immense potential for great things in the future. Our tomorrow is certainly brighter in the hands of these young achievers.”

The winners were recognized at the 40 Under 40 Awards gala on May 7 and Triangle Business Journal will publish an in-depth special section on May 21.
