Mother-Daughter Teams from Cary Dental Office Participate in Susan G. Komen Race

Two mother-daughter teams from the offices of Dr. C. Ashely Mann in Cary, North Carolina were among thousands of participants at the annual Susan G. Komen Race event in Raleigh last month.

Liz Russell, practice manager for the office, and Carmen Rose, one of their dental assistants, ran the 5 K race on June 12 with their daughters.

The Komen Race to raise funds for curing cancer has special significance to Russell. "June 16th would have been my mother's 70th birthday," Russell said. "We lost her 28 years ago to breast cancer. We have to find a cure for this awful disease."

Rose and her daughter committed to running the race again next year, and in years to come, wanting to add their support to finding a cure for breast cancer.

"I am proud to have such committed, generous and strong women on my team here," Dr. Ashely Mann said when asked about Russell and Rose's participation.

Russell and her daughter have run together in 12 separate 5K Races for the Cure. They also have walked in one of the Susan G. Komen 3 Day 60 Mile Walk for the Cure. Rose and her daughter have run together in two of the Raleigh 5Ks so far.
