THE HANDMADE MARKET – BECAUSE “MALL” IS A FOUR-LETTER WORD

Shop for unique handcrafted gifts from local artists and designers at The Handmade Market on April 23^rd.

RALEIGH, N.C. – NC design and craft collective, The Handmaidens, announce the 11th semiannual installment of The Handmade Market.

The application process for entry into the locally operated and produced shopping event is now open. All local artists, crafters and designers are encouraged to apply by completing the process outlined on The Handmade Market’s website, www.thehandmademarket.com.

The Handmade Market is a one-day, indoor designer craft fair and market featuring handcrafted goods from 50 artists, designers and crafters from NC and beyond. The event runs from 11 am until 5 pm on Saturday, April 23rd. The Handmade Market will be held at Cobblestone Hall, in downtown Raleigh. The entrance is located at 215 Wolfe Street in City Market, just south of Moore Square, in the former Greenshields building.

Applicants will be juried into The Handmade Market with a focus on local and regional artists. In the past, the designers have represented such diverse groups of modern handcrafts including jewelry, baby and kid’s goods, men and women’s apparel, fashion accessories, home goods, fine art and stationery.

The event also includes a fundraiser to benefit Toxic Free NC. This local nonprofit’s goal is to get rid of pesticide pollution, in our water, our food and our bodies through education, governmental influence and community knowledge. In the past we have raised thousands of dollars for various local charities.

Since its inception in 2006, The Handmade Market quickly has become one of the Southeast’s most highly anticipated shopping events. The Handmade Market is produced by The Handmaidens and is made possible with support from the Downtown Raleigh Alliance, Ornamentea, The Raleigh Downtowner Magazine, Yelp, The B Keeps Us Honest and High Park Restaurant.
